Graduate House houses 424 students in 120 fully furnished, three- or
four-bedroom suites. As a building, Graduate House is co-ed; however,
the suites are organized according to gender. Co-ed suites for incoming
residents are not permitted. Most of the bedrooms are regular single
bedrooms, though there are a handful of double rooms (shared
bedroom). We also have a small number of premium single bedrooms.
Each suite contains two or three bathroom arrangements; a full kitchen
with a fridge, oven, and microwave; and a living area with a loveseat,
armchair, and kitchen table with 4 chairs. Residents are expected to do
their own cooking and are responsible for cleaning their own suites.
Graduate House does not offer any meal plans, nor does it provide a
housekeeping service.
Graduate House is a completely non-smoking environment. Smoking
is not allowed anywhere in or around the building, including bedrooms,
suites, the common areas, hallways, stairwells, or even outdoors in the
courtyard or by the entrances and exits. There is absolutely zero tolerance for smoking. Students
who wish to smoke or who expect visitors who will wish to smoke may
prefer to seek accommodation in other housing that permits
smoking.

Common Spaces, Study Areas, A Music Room, and More! |
|
Graduate House is full of lounges and study areas scattered throughout
the building - each with wireless networking. Internet terminals are
also available for general use. There are two TV areas and a large
common room with a pool table, ping pong table, and foosball table. Our
music room offers residents a piano to practice, storage
space for their music, and extra seating for fellow musicians. The
International Reading Room is stocked daily with newspapers and
periodicals from Canada and around the world.
In the summer, residents enjoy working outside in our gated courtyard or BBQing with their friends in the evening.

Building Amenities: Laundry, Bike Storage, Underground Parking |
|
In addition to the large collection of common spaces, Graduate House
provides a variety of useful building amenities and services to be
enjoyed by its residents. A bright laundry room is located on the
Courtyard Level, visible from the main common area and TV room. The rates
per load are $1.50 per wash and $1.50 per one hour dry. Payments are made with a
reloadable smartcard.
Two bike rooms inside the building offer secure storage for 44
bicycles at a rate of $5 per bicycle per month. Residents can apply for bike spaces (subject to availability) and they are awarded on a first-come-first-serve basis. Unfortunately, due to the high level of demand there is no guarantee that a bike space will be available at the time of move-in. Underground parking is
also available at Graduate House. All parking anywhere on the
University of Toronto campus, including under Graduate House, is handled
by University of Toronto Parking Services. For information on rates, availability, and how to apply for a parking permit, please contact them directly.

What type of Network Connection Will I Have at Grad House? |
|
Each bedroom in Graduate House is equipted with a LAN (Ethernet) jack per occupant. It is the responsibility of the resident to equip thier computer with the requisite ethernet card and cable in order to use the network. Upon move-in, residents are asked to sign a Network Agreement form that stipulates the conditions of using the University of Toronto's network. Connection to our network is not possible without this signed agreement. Graduate House employs two network assistants who monitor and maintain our network.
